A thin slice of genuine sandstone, bonded to a flexible fiberglass or fabric backing, keeps the actual mineral texture, colour variation and grain of the source stone — at roughly a tenth of the weight of a cut slab.
That changes what's possible: it wraps around curved columns, adheres to ceilings without extra structural support, goes into renovations where you can't add load, and sits behind backlighting where solid stone would block the light entirely.
