Yes — the cutting process preserves the natural cleft face of the slate including all mica crystal inclusions and metallic mineral shimmer. The veneer sheet is the actual stone face bonded to backing.
Heavy slate tiles (7–20mm) are for floors, roofs and structural wall cladding. These veneer sheets (1.5–2mm) are for interior feature walls, furniture faces and curved surfaces. See our Slates & Quartzite page for full-thickness tiles.
